We were so busy this last week we did not even have time for a preparation day. We have to take one this week, as I have to do some laundry before we can go to Grand Rapids for the two day training we have on the 16th and the 17th.
On Saturday we had the baptism of LaShawn Young. He is really tall, and we wondered how many times Elder West would have to try, to get him all the way immersed. He did it the first time. LaShawn is a wonderful young man. He has a strong testimony of the gospel. We found out today that we get to teach him and his wife, Janey, the new member discussions. That is exciting for us. The elders taught him the discussions.
Saturday night we went to the Powell's house for dinner. They are very nice people. Mickey Baldwin and Hilde Hammer (pictured last week) were there also. We went from there to a concert, which our friends Grant and Gloria were singing in. It was held in the Congregational Church and had lovely Chistmas trees around. There were a lot of groups. I especially liked the small children.
On Sunday, Grant and Gloria came to church. We were excited about that.
We are out searching every day. Some days are more successful than others.
We have prepared a family home evening about Christmas and are going to several families' houses. The people on Sunday were ill and canceled. Monday night we taught the Cusick family. Their children are really cute. The Cusicks are from Hawaii, and all of the children have beautiful Hawaiian names.
Today we went out to Schaffer's house, which is way out in the boonies, in a beautiful setting. She is having surgery tomorrow, and Ron was able to give her a blessing. When we left, we got lost trying to find the Slackters. Even with our gps we ended up about thirty miles from where we wanted to be. It was, however, a gorgeous drive through the woods.
Tonight we had dinner with the KonKright family at the Chinese Buffet. Good company and good food...very pleasant!
We left there, and went to visit a family with a cute little five year old and another on the way. We just took the nativity story and treats to them. Adrianna, the little girl, had a good time putting the figures up. It went well. They are a nice family.
I have to sign off as we are going to be out at the Schaffer's house at 5:45 a.m. to help the kids get on the bus at 7:00. Their parents will be leaving for the hospital at 5:50, and it is really dark out there in the woods when those kids catch the bus.
