Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We had a nice day at the Schaffer family's home. It is way out in the country in a beautiful setting. Sister Schaffer fixed a great dinner, complete with all of the Thanksgiving trimmings. We had three different desserts, pumpkin pie, a wonderful apple tart, and chocolate mud bars. Yes, they were all wonderful. I made the rolls and they were the best I had ever made. Yes, it helps to know the FAMILY SECRET...Mom and Sarah. Yes, for all of you who have not heard my sad story, I was some place where Mom and Sarah were talking about Mom's roll recipe. They were talking about a step that is not in the recipe, but that Mom had told Sarah about. Somehow, that tip skipped a generation. Oh, what a difference it made!!!
We played Uno Attack and had a great time. I took photos, but am out of space. I have to figure out what to do about that. Sorry!
Friday night the ward had a luau potluck. Brother Ramsey had the cultural hall decorated beautifully.
On Saturday the Eric and Kristine Kelly got married. They are doing it in preparation for her to be baptized. It was a nice occasion.
After the wedding, we had the baptism of Charles Cochrin. He is a man who walked in off the street months ago. He visited Salt Lake City a few years ago and a friend took him to temple square. He has wanted to find out more ever since then. He has not missed a week since the first time he came. He overcame a lot when he quit smoking. It is awesome to see the gospel change lives. He is really happy.
We have been out visiting and teaching doing our regular thing.
Today we had a wonderful district conference. Elder Van Dyke is a wonderful teacher. We also had a lesson from an AP, Elder Rosen, who goes home in a couple of weeks. I'll bet his family is getting excited.
There are all sorts of rumors running though the mission (from the young missionaries) about what areas are going to be opened up first by new missionaries. So there is a lot of excitement building. We have a stake missionary training with the ward missionaries on Saturday and training in Grand Rapids next week on Tuesday and Wednesday. It will be interesting to see if we have any more word on things. Wednesday we have a Christmas party. It was a lot of fun last year. (I have got to get the pictures on the blog figured out by then. HA!)
The church has a great Christmas presentation set up on Mormon.org/Christmas. It has free down loadable music from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the nativity story, and in a couple of days, Christmas cards. It is cool. You can share how you feel about Christ and the real meaning of Christmas with others. I hope you will share it with your friends and neighbors. Hey... thanks for this blog.. it is so cool reading about my old friends from Battle Creek, wher i was baptised in 1994... fun to see the Torrance family... wish i had been able to meet them in SLC when they picked up their son.. i loved that family when I lived there.. tell them hello from me again.. thanks, Bill Knopp
